Surprise!

What do you get when daddy brings home a surprise?  A blue face that's what.
There's a little bakery a few shops down from where we get our hair cut.  They have great little  homemade cupcakes.  (Strawberry Field being Lily Grace's favorite)  Every three weeks when Matt goes to get his hair cut, he brings home a cupcake for each of us.  Lily Grace squeals when you tell her it is "Surprise Day."  Well, yesterday Matt's appointment was a little later than usual, so the bakery had closed.  Being the good daddy he is,  he heads over to the local grocery as plan B.  He arrives home with these very BLUE cupcakes and let me just say, we ended up with more than just BLUE cupcakes. HA!  Too cute and funny!
You may also notice in the picture that Lily Grace is enjoying this cupcake at the table, sitting in her pink booster seat.  Yes, out of the clear BLUE yesterday, she asked to sit in her pink seat at the table for dinner, rather than in her high-chair.  She looked like such a big girl and did very well.  I will admit as her little hand reached across the table to hold mine for the blessing, I lost it.  Tears came easily while my eyes watched the "big girl" at the table.  My heart had a hard time accepting it.  "She's growing up," Matt turned to me and said.  She is indeed and we are cherishing every little moment of it.
Now, about these 2 year old phases which include the word No????????????????????? HA! HA!

Fun on the River

Today, we visited the Mud Island River Park with friends Claire, her big brother Jesse, Elliot and their moms.  The fun began with a monorail ride over to the island.  Once over, the kids followed the Mississippi (well a replica of the Mississippi River), splashed in the water and ended up wading in the Gulf of Mexico. We also watched a barge on the actual river and ended with lunch together.   The park was really nice and we all had fun, especially the kids!

Splish Splash Fun

This past week, Lily Grace had her friend Kaitlyn over for backyard water play.  The girls had so much fun splashing and blowing bubbles.  I think their cute little smiles say it all.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Daddy celebrates his ?? birthday today.  He started his special day by sleeping in a little and going in to the office a little later, so he could enjoy breakfast with the girls.  He also got to enjoy a little doll play and story time with his cutest little girl.  If I had to guess, extra time like this is just what he wished for.
We also made his favorite dessert, Homemade Tiramisu.  Have a great day daddy and know that the girls absolutely love and adore you!!

Busy Little Hands

It's amazing how someone so small can stay so busy.  Those two little hands are constantly in motion.  On Sunday afternoon, Lily Grace and daddy enjoyed using their hands to play and explore with "goop."  They had a great time!
This morning, Lily Grace and I went outside.  She was set to ride her bike while I washed the car.  I looked back to find that she had decided to "help me" wash the car instead.  She then decided that her bike would be easier to wash.  I love the fact that she washed in her bike attire. Lily Grace is just so funny sometimes.
She ended the morning by using those diligent little hands to water the flowers.  (Note to self: Never turn my back on Lily while she is holding the water.)
Have a great day!

Shoo Fly

A couple of weeks ago, Lily Grace and I were eating and a bothersome fly landed on my arm. (Welcome summer!)  In a silly manner I said, "Shoo fly don't bother me."  Well Lily Grace repeated what I said with such a serious look on her face.  Now, anytime she sees a fly, regardless of how close it is to her she says shoo fly.  She can even be heard shouting shoo fly over and over if one should make its way into the house.  (Not a big fan of bugs)  It just tickles Matt and I to hear her say it.  Too Cute!

Ending on a Sweet Note

After a busy and fun week, Lily Grace ended the week in a yummy way.  She and I made cupcakes after nap this afternoon.  She chose red cake mix of course.  (Perhaps to match the big red mosquito bite on her head.  She is pretty sweet herself, so I don't blame those mosquitos. HA!)  She also confirmed once again that when icing is involved, it just taste better right out of the can.
We always have a lot of fun cooking.  And  I absolutely adore our special time together.

Another Day of Fun

Lily Grace is quite the busy girl this week.  Today, she enjoyed a playdate at her friend Claire's house.  They had a great time and both were sad to see it end.  I've learned that tears at the end of  a playdate are a good sign.  HA!
Thanks so much for having us over Gretchen, Claire and big brother Jesse!
Sorry for the blurr in a couple of the photos, constantly moving giggles will cause that. :-)

Zoo x 3

Lily Grace visited the zoo today along with friends, Elliot and Noah.  The three of them had the best time together!   Not even the heat could prevent that.

Lily's Look

Lily's foot: By Lily

Up close with Darby: By Lily

Here's a couple of pictures snapped by our tiny photographer.
Also pictured are some snaps by mommy of Lily Grace's latest craft project.  Today, she made an octopus on a circle, with 8 legs that create a color pattern of blue and green.  Take the teacher out of the classroom but...... HA!  We always have fun crafting.
After finishing her octopus, Lily Grace went straight to her refrigerator to hang her latest art piece, just like mommy does.  Too cute!  (Let's just hope Darby doesn't find it as cute and leaves it on there. )
Enjoy

Curious George

Lily Grace and her friend Claire recently visited the new Curious George exhibit at the Children's Museum.  They had a great time.  Gretchen and I got a great workout too.  Two loose two year olds....wow!  Nonstop fun!
