Just the Girls

We can often be seen together, but more times than not you will see us with five little cuties running closely behind.
However, one night each month, we each take a turn picking a restaurant and hang out together, just the girls. We laugh hysterically, share thoughts and opinions, tell stories about ourselves and have an absolute wonderful time.
Being a mom really does change every facet of your life. Chances are, we may never have met were it not for our kids. And now, like our kids, we each bring our own personality to the mix and just have fun!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

The picture Lily Grace drew of daddy is just too cute!

Chocolate Smiles

Lily Grace loves to celebrate birthdays, even if it's not her own. She thoroughly enjoyed surprising daddy with a cake (that we made together and she decorated with sprinkles) and a card she made him. She insisted that daddy needed Mickey Mouse plates and napkins for his "party." Only the best for you dad and according to Lily Grace, that's Mickey.
Happy Birthday Daddy! We love you!

He Did It!!!

I recently had to go to some doctor's appointments and that left daddy with Lily Grace. While I was at my first appointment, I got a text from Matt. He is letting me know that while getting Lily Grace ready for the day, she made a hair request. I'm sure it's the request that each daddy of a little girl will at some point hear and have to tackle. And that request would be ponytails. He ends the text by assuring me he feels up to the challenge and that ponies is definitely what she is insisting on. HA!
I didn't know whether to laugh or worry. (ok , so I did laugh out loud at first because I could just see Matt sweating and perhaps pleading with her to just go with a bow or barrette. This wasn't after all something he could sit down and solve with an equation or spreadsheet in Excel.) Then came a little worry. What in the world would her hair look like? He was taking her out after all and he had only watched me do it a couple of times.
My only request was that he take a picture of his work.
Needless to say, he did it and managed to do a pretty good job too! Well, a "how to part the back" session may be in order. HA! HA!

July 4th!!!

This year, we celebrated the 4th with dear friends Lance and Gretchen. We had so much fun! It was quite the memorizing display of pyrotechnics. (Lance you are the king of neighborhood fireworks- it's all about the sparklers!)
Gretchen, you are quite the hostess, right down to the brownies.
Lily Grace and Claire enjoyed catching lightning bugs, following big brother Jesse around and staying up until 10:30. Yes, you just read that correctly, Lily Grace got to stay up well past her bedtime.
Thanks again to our wonderful friends. We had a great time and loved just hanging out. We'll see you next year. And until then, Lance you have time to plan how you will ever top the spider rocket finale of tonight.
