Finally!!!

It was a big day around here today.  We were finally able to get the pools out.  Lily Grace has been asking about them since the slightest hint of warm weather.  

The weather was perfect- hot and sunny.  Lily Grace and Darby soaked up every minute of it.

This morning, Lily Grace asked if she could paint.  I needed to fold some clothes and make a couple of phone calls so it seemed like a great idea.  We both got busy and I stood folding and listening to her sing along with one of her CD's while she painted.  Life is good!  Well, after folding the first load, I walk by her to put her towels away.  She holds her arms up and says,"Look I painted some gloves on my arms."  I'm thinking messy, but creative.  I even email Matt a picture of her painted arms as he often likes to see what we do during the day.  He calls and laughs at seeing the pictures and tells me, how good it is that she is exploring and I should just let her continue.  I agree, I mean why have the easel and paints if she can't have fun with them?  I hang up with Matt and  get Lily Grace some more paper. She says that she is still enjoying singing and painting.  I move on to another load and walk into the office to make a call.  I hang up and walk around the corner to the kitchen to find my child covered in red from head to toe.  She looks surprised and tells me that her painting is "so, so cute."  And oh!  that  she got a little on her and the floor. I'm thinking just a little???   I can see that she even tried to clean it up.  I just begin to laugh and ponder the best way to clean all this up.  I am thinking to myself how this kid is going to be walking around with red stained arms for a month.  (thank goodness it all washed off)

Needless to say we managed.  And I don't think Lily Grace can ever accuse me of stifling her creativity.  I must admit, I could care less about cleaning it all up.  She and I had the best laugh over it.  It's one of those little moments that memories are made of and again reminds me of how blessed I am to get to witness it.  Life is still good! HA!

On a side note:  while scrubbing the red off of her, she pleads with me to please let her keep her red Rudolph nose after she sees herself in the mirror.  Why not?  I'm sure daddy would say I should let her and after all, that's a battle the two of them can have at bath time.  Just giving you a moment too daddy. HA! HA!

Girls on the Go!

Today, Lily Grace attended her friend Elliot's birthday party.  His party was held at a local farm.  She also attended with a friend in tow.  Claire rode with us to the party while her mommy and daddy finished up a garage sale.  It was the first time the girls have ridden to an event together and they were very excited.  I base this on the nonstop squeals, giggles and conversation from the back seat.  

They were so cute and a joy to watch. 

Travelers Note:  "Are we there yet?"  begins at the age of 3.  It just comes in the form of, "almost there, almost there, almost there?"  

Mother's Day

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!  This is my first post to the blog and I wanted to wish my wife a wonderful day.  What a blessing Barb is to our family!  She absolutely adores Lily Grace.  Seeing them together delights my heart.  Today we celebrate her and the immense love she gives everyday.  Happy Mother’s Day Sweetheart!  We love you!

Rainy Day Play

Lily Grace and I both love the rain.  However, our ideas of what makes for a good rainy day are quite different.  When warmer weather and Spring showers moved in, she started asking to go out and play in the rain.  

Today, being a lazy Saturday morning seemed like the perfect time.  She wasted not a moment getting on her boots and saving even more time by staying in her pajamas once we told her she was free to play out in the rain.  

She was so cute and had the best time.  The harder the rain fell, the more she enjoyed it.  Darby was all to happy to join in on the fun and even Daddy surprised her by getting wet.

I on the other hand, stayed snuggled in my pajamas and watched out the windows and occasionally opened the door to capture a few precious moments.  I must say, it is one of the most enjoyable Saturday mornings I've had.  :-)  

And as she entered the house (being lured in with the promise of cocoa) wet from head to toe, I think it was quite enjoyable for her (and daddy) as well.
