Sweet Dreams

She did it!  After a week of worrying and stressing about whether or not we were making the right decision to move Lily Grace to her big girl bed, we (after the advice of many and consulting our doctor about it) moved her into her big girl bed on Friday night.
Lily Grace took it so much better than us.  When Matt got home from work, she waved and said "bye-bye" to her crib and helped us move it out, along with the changing table.  She didn't show any attachment to it and looked at us several times like, get a move on it already.
Her bed frame and night-stand won't arrive for another two weeks.  This actually works out great.  We were advised to try increments with just the mattresses on the floor until the frame arrived.  We also placed her crib mattress on the floor beside her big girl bed just in case she rolled out.
She was so excited when Matt brought her big girl mattresses into her room.  She wore the biggest smile and immediately tried to climb in.  She helped me make the bed and would walk up and down the side grinning and rubbing the blanket on top.  Every other word from  her was "girl bed."  It was so cute.  She took out books and laid them on her bed to look at them.
The smile on her face along with the sheer excitement that filled her little body was just priceless.
The hour of truth arrived and we said our prayers and night nights like always.  I left the room and within minutes, Matt  would soon follow and with that, out little girl was fast asleep in her new big girl bed.  We didn't hear a sound out of her all night.  We kept waiting shortly after laying her down ( and perhaps a small part of us hoping she might just call out and need mommy or daddy) but nothing.
I spent much of the night awake and I must have visited her room about 5 times to check on her.  Each time revealed the same as the time before, a little girl fast asleep , looking most precious and at peace.  I won't lie, it was and still is a little hard.  We wold love her to stay small forever, but it is also so rewarding and special to watch her grow and experience new things.
We eagerly awoke this morning, waiting to see what the early hours would bring.  Just as each Saturday morning, the sounds of a little voice calling out mommy and daddy to let us know she was awake is exactly what came this morning as well.  When she calls on Saturday mornings, Matt goes in and changes her and brings her to our bed to wake up mommy and play and cuddle a little.  This morning however, we surprised her with mommy visiting her and cuddling in her bed.  She was all giggles and filled with pride when Matt walked in her room to find her sitting up in her bed.  She was all too happy to pose for a few memorable pictures as well.  Actually, she says cheese about every five minutes she is in her room, wanting us to take pictures of her.
Later in the morning after cleaning up from breakfast, I walked in and found her on her bed looking at books.  It was just a precious site.  We are so happy for her.
After lunch, we prepared for nap as always and I wasn't quite sure what to expect.  I have heard that nap can become a new playtime or nonexistent when you make the switch.  Well, not with Lily Grace.  Our little girl was beaming and ran right in to get in bed when we got ready for nap.  I had to remind her we hadn't read a story yet.  She obliged me and now like each day she is fast asleep.
Each day, Lily Grace reminds us that it's often times the small moments that mean the most and bring us the most fulfillment.
*Blog mishap- sorry the pictures are out of order.  The first three should be at the bottom.  I'm trying people.
Until next time....... night-night!
