Butterflies

Lily Grace on a recent trip to Barnes and Noble became very interested in a butterfly kit. Having done this same activity with my kindergartners while teaching, I was very excited to share in it with her.
Our whole family got really involved in observing the daily changes that occur from caterpillar to butterfly. Lily Grace could often be heard saying, "Good morning little fellows," while they were still caterpillars. (She also insisted that they stay on her night-stand by her bed.)
Once the caterpillars formed chrysalis, Lily Grace and daddy moved them to their new habitat. After several days of waiting and watching, butterflies begin to breakthrough and emerge. We ended up with 5 pretty butterflies.
After a day of enjoying them up close, we took them out and released them after breakfast. (And of course you should be wearing a butterfly gown if you just happen to be releasing butterflies after breakfast. Doesn't everyone? HA!)

Fun with the Birds!

Today we visited the bird exhibit at the zoo. Good friends Claire and her mommy joined us.
The birds were beautiful, especially the turquoise ones. Lily Grace was happy to have any of them nibble from her treat stick.
Not only did the birds prove to be a lot of fun, but so did the nice cool water.

Happy Mother's Day!

Greetings All – this is my annual contribution to the blog, in honor of my beautiful wife. Barb is truly a blessing from above. She is kind, gentle, humorous and most of all her heart is filled with love. On this mother's day Lily and I honored her with a couple of her favorite gifts and tried to do every honey do possible. God bless you Barb, I love you!
